Deepika and Sonam: The Hot Gen X Style Divas
Bollywood by far has been one of the most important platforms for fashion trends to be followed by almost all fashion conscious people, at least the younger generations.So the two latest fashion icons or divas to be on the list of the hottest stars who sets fashion trends are of course Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Ever since the two have stepped into the glamor world, they have taken their style quotient to the highest level.
Despite the fact that Sonam had made her debut with a demure look in traditional Indian clothing in the flick Saawariya, and also was seen in the traditional salwar kameez in Delhi 6, she managed to be one of the fashionistas in Bollywood due to her personal style and panache which she executed with extreme care in her public appearances.
The major take off was when she was spotted in Aisha, a movie about high society gals and totally the last word in fashion right from daily wear to bridal wear, when Sonam Kapoor permanently made a mark on being in the hot list of high fashion icons in Bollywood.
Deepika Padukone who had debuted with Om Shanti Om, placed herself in the list of being a fashion icon right from the word go. Being from the modeling world she carried herself with utmost dignity and style in most of her outfits.
Her movie Bachchna Ae Haseeno was yet another milestone in her career to make her hot property in tinsel town with her sense of dressing and glamor. Housefull was yet another movie which had her in completely hot look and cool outfits.
Then Karthik calling Karthik and Love Aaj Kal saw her in chique and smart look which has given this long legged lasso a very high place in the list of the best fashion icons of B-town.
Recently the hot duo appeared in a popular chat show with formal designer gowns that reflected and screamed fashion at every stage of the show. Well certainly these two style divas of the new generation of B town stars are a way ahead in style and fashion!
SRK gets special permission to smoke in Berlin hotel
The actor has been allowed to smoke in his hotel room in Berlin, a city where lighting up is banned!Germany has banned smoking in public and private restaurants since 2008. Those caught flouting the ban would face a fine of up to 100 Euros (approx Rs 6, 116).
Smoking in public places, especially in hotels and restaurants is strictly prohibited not just in Berlin but in other German states as well.
There are 'No Smoking' signs and warnings that the offender would be fined if caught smoking, put up everywhere.
Bending rules
However, the rules have been bent for Shah Rukh Khan, who is shooting in Berlin for Farhan Akhtar's Don 2. The actor can smoke at the Hotel Mandala on Potsdamer Platz for the entire duration of his stay there. It has been two months since he began shooting there.
Recently, a German magazine carried a report about the general manager of the hotel giving Shah Rukh special permission to flout the norms.
A special exception was made for Suite 1107, where Shah Rukh will stay till the end of November. The actor has also been provided an ashtray to make sure he doesn't damage the carpeting and linen in his suite on the 11th floor of the hotel. The rate of the room is Rs 113, 960 per night.
According to law, smoking is forbidden throughout the property's premises. However, the management of Hotel Mandala has made an exception for Shah Rukh because they consider him their most prized guest. The actor's craving for nicotine is well known, but this is the first time that the authorities have bent rules for anyone.
Royal treatment
The German media has already carried articles gushing about India's King Khan choosing their city for his mega-budget film. Berlin's mayor Klaus Wowereit even gave him a personal tour of the majestic Town Hall, the Rotes Rathaus.
It's obvious the Germans are going all out to make SRK's stay in their country as comfortable and memorable as possible.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirms, "Shah Rukh's suite has a terrace attached and they (the hotel authorities) were kind enough to allow him to smoke only on the terrace."
Germans Love SRK
There's a regular stream of fans outside SRK's hotel every morning, waiting just to meet him. It's the same scene when he returns at night from his shoot. SRK happily obliges fans with autographs and poses for photographs.Incidentally, Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, who was recently staying at the same hotel as SRK thought he was being stalked by paparazzi but was told by the hotel management that the fans outside the hotel were there for the Indian actor.
Pehle Bhi
The National Organization for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), protested against Shah Rukh, who was shown on TV, smoking during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on April 21, 2009 in South Africa.
NOTE asked the South African National Council Against Smoking (NCAS) to consider the issue seriously and stop smoking in the stadium during IPL matches. After this, Shah Rukh expressed his willingness to stop attending further games if his smoking would become such a big issue.
Sunjay, Karisma Kapoor marriage on the rocks again
Buzz about the Sunjay Kapur and Karisma wedding ending grows stronger as Sunjay is spotted in company of divorced Delhi socialite-modelNew Delhi is abuzz (again!) about the scandal surrounding the Karisma Kapoor-Sunjay Kapur marriage.
After raised eyebrows about Lolo's continuous stay in Mumbai away from her hubby, one now hears hushed whispers about her hubby's close proximity to the ex-wife of a New York-based wealthy hotelier.
Sunjay has been spotted at the capital's high-profile bashes in her company. Any onlooker would realise that they are more than just friends. Says a source, "They seem to have been throwing caution to the wind, of late."
Adds the source, "The two seemed to have found solace in each other as both have had their share of troubled marriages."
The socialite-model who is into luxury fashion retail has a daughter from her marriage to the NRI, who made news after a rehab stint to quit drugs at a Byculla hospital last November.
She had a high-profile wedding that was described as India's most extravagant shaadi and was later made into a TV documentary.
Only time will tell if this relationship is a casual fling or something serious.
What's going wrong
Those in the know state that Karisma Kapoor had married Sunjay Kapur on the rebound immediately after her breakup with Abhishek Bachchan to whom she was engaged.
Sunjay was earlier married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani whom he divorced just days before his marriage to Lolo. Nandita is now seeing Dino Morea.
According to the buzz, the Sunjay-Nandita marriage broke up due to certain reasons which now continue to plague Lolo.Karisma was not keen to relocate to Delhi after her marriage. Sunjay cannot understand why.
Buzz is that Lolo is keen to return to B-Town something Sunjay is not too excited about.
Continuously Rocky
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur have had a rocky relationship ever since their marriage in 2003. Buzz about strains in the marriage have kept erupting periodically over time.
Even after Samaira was born in March 2005, there was speculation that all was not well on the marital front.
Something went right with the couple because Lolo was pregnant again and delivered a boy Kiaan Raj in March this year. But yet again there is discord and marital woes.
